One of the "travelingest" motion pictures ever made is Robert Wise's production from The Filmakers Group of "Two People," now playing at the Sunset Theatre.
The Universal romantic drama in Technicolor, starring Peter Fonda, Lindsay Wagner and Estelle Parsons, is the story of Fonda and Miss Wagner who meet and fall in love under unusual circumstances while journeying from Marrakech in Morocco to New York. In his capacity as director, Wise spent nearly two weeks of his scheduled time in Morocco filming aboard a train traveling from Marrakech to Casablanca.
The next step in the journey —and the budding romance— took place during a flight from Casablanca to Paris, and for that the company shot in the first-class section of an Air France Caravelle while actually making the flight.
Wise's penchant for realism suffered when he scheduled a scene aboard a second-class railway car in Morocco. "Unfortunately," he says, "Morocco Railways officials give the car a fresh coat of paint when we weren't looking. They wanted their railway system to appear at its best."
"Two People" was written by Richard De Roy.
