Lindsay Wagner stars in movie

December 29, 1978

'The Incredible Journey Of Doctor Meg Laurel' starring Lindsay Wagner as a dedicated physician battling supersticious mountain people in Appalachia in the 1920's, will be broadcast on 'The CBS Tuesday Night Movies,' January 2, 1979.

Jane Wyman also stars with special guest star Dorothy McGuire.

Miss Wagner portrays a happily married Boston physician who is compelled by her conscience to return to her roots, a poor orphanage in Virginia, to repay the devotion and inspiration given her by the intitution's director, Effie Webb (Dorothy McGuire).

Finding the orphanage abandonded, Dr. Laurel journeys into the backwoods of the Blue Ridge Mountains to find her beloved Effie and set up practice, only to discover that her modern (1920's) behavior and "new-fangled" medical practices are in direct conflict with the home-spun ways and remedies of the area's own practitioner.
