HOLLYWOOD — Lindsay Wagner has commenced casting her remake of the classic "I Want to Live," which will roll as an ABC TV movie in early '83 with the former "Bionic Woman" as producer and star.
She's also negotiating for CBS to present the video adaptation of Irving Wallace's "The Second Lady" — the rights to which she purchased last year. And...
The actress-fledgling producer reveals the search has started for a new hour-long weekly dramatic vehicle in which she's contracted to star for ABC. However...
"There's no doubt about it," she says, "I'd rather stay home and play mother." Lindsay, who's married to stuntman Henry Kingi, has been a mother since September, and says she's determined work won't interfere with her maternal duties — that 4-month-old Dorian will accompany her to the set. As he did — in a way — earlier this year.
Lindsay was in mid-pregnancy when she filmed CBS" "Memories Never Die," which aired Wednesday. In it she portrayed a woman who has suffered such acute post-partum depression that she spends six years in a mental hospital. And she says her pre-partum condition wasn't apparent "until the middle of production, when I suddenly blossomed. I came back to work one Monday and none of my clothes fit."
To disguise the situation, they not only started concentrating on closeups of Lindsay, they also positioned her behind potted plants, a kitchen counter, a stairwell, and gave her an oversized handbag to carry. "Once they even handed me a bunch of packages and said, 'In this scene, you've just been out shopping.'"
