Local author John Sedgwick, whose book "The Peaceable Kingdom: A Year in the Life of the Philadelphia Zoo" recently came out in paperback, got some more welcome news: CBS is borrowing the title (and portions of the book's premise) for a new fall series. Starring former bionic woman Lindsay Wagner, "Peaceable Kingdom" will air as a one-hour dramatic series, beginning next fall on Wednesday night at 8.
"Someone at CBS said it would be a sort of 'Murphy Brown Goes to the Zoo,' which is weird, because they're not planning to make it a comedy. Maybe it'll be more like 'Lassie' or 'Swiss Family Robinson.' I'm not too sure," says Sedgwick.
Wagner will reportedly play a zoo director with three children who lives at the zoo with her family. Notes Sedgwick, whose book is packed with first-person experiences, "The show's main emphasis, alas, will be Ms. Wagner, not me. In that respect I guess she's like the proverbial 800-pound gorilla."
