Family first: TV movie queen Lindsay Wagner stays close to the heirs

July 28, 1992

You see them more and more often around television and film sets: kiddie wagons. Star mothers nowadays won't sign contracts unless producers provide elaborate mobile playrooms for their children "to give them a home away from home," as Lindsay Wagner puts it.

Making "To Be the Best" (8 p.m. Sunday and Tuesday, CBS-Ch. 2) in London and Hong Kong, the Wagner menage, including her nanny and her husband-producer Larry Mortoff-stayed together.

While she played department store magnate Paula O'Neill before the cameras, foiling grasping adversary Christopher Cazenove, flirting with reliable ally Anthony Hopkins, flaunting her newly dyed flame-red hair, Wagner makes sure her family retains first billing in her life.
