Though Deborah Kerr isn't involved -- her character, Emma Harte, died in the second part of the trilogy -- CBS reached out for stars with even more appeal to modern audiences: Lindsay Wagner stars as Emma's granddaughter Paula O'Neill, and Oscar-winner Anthony Hopkins plays mysterious Jack Figg, head of security for Paula's department- store empire.
The miniseries concerns the efforts of Paula (Wagner) to fend off the villainous schemes of her evil cousin Jonathan Ainsley ([Christopher Cazenove]) and his consort, another nasty cousin, Sarah (Claire Oberman).
When bandits raid the Harte headquarters, Paula reads the riot act to her security chief, Jack Figg (Hopkins), a former member of the British Secret Service. She soon discovers Figg is the strongest link in her system of defenses, despite this one failure.
