BURBANK, Calif., May 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Heroes come in all shapes, sizes and colors: from tiny green crickets all the way up to giant blue genies. This will be explored in the half-hour special, "Disney's Most Unlikely Heroes," which starts production this week and will air Tuesday, June 18 at 8:30 PM (ET/PT) on ABC.

Roy E. Disney, Vice Chairman of The Walt Disney Company, will host this whimsical special that also features Lindsay Wagner, Joan Rivers, Pat Sajak, Ben Savage, David Carradine and Zachery Ty Bryan among others. Each celebrity will pay tribute to their own personal hero and fondly recall their Disney favorites. Animated clips from the studio's vast animation archives will feature Mickey Mouse as "Steamboat Willie"; the lovable wooden puppet turned boy, Pinocchio; Cinderella's fairy godmother; Goofy; and the Genie from "Aladdin."

As a special treat, home viewers will get a glimpse of never-before- seen footage from Disney's 34th full-length animated feature film, "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," featuring Quasimodo, an unlikely hero if ever there was one. From Victor Hugo's immortal novel, the film tells the touching story of the lonely bellringer who longs to be "out there" in the everyday world beyond his belltower home.

"Disney's Most Unlikely Heroes" is executive produced by Dan Boothe and Stu Schreiberg, with John Fuller as producer and writer. The special is directed by Boothe. "Disney's Most Unlikely Heroes" is a production of Wrightwood Entertainment, Inc. in association with Walt Disney Television.
