Women battle cholera crisis in `Contagious'

January 20, 1997

Former TV movie queen Lindsay Wagner makes a dramatic comeback as a brave, overworked heroine in "Contagious," a (STAR)(STAR) suspense thriller premiering at 8 tonight on cable's USA channel.

The former "Bionic Woman" actress turns dead-serious as Dr. Hannah Cole, a contagious-disease specialist who tries to prevent a cholera epidemic in Southern California.

Helping the frazzled physician is police detective Louisa "Lou" Rojas, played with brassy confidence by Elizabeth Pena from the John Sayles film "Lone Star." The tough, determined women track the dual sources of the outbreak and defy authority figures to save lives. Rojas takes a dangerous risk in a crisis situation involving a cocaine kingpin and hired killers. Cole fears the worst when her husband (Tom Wopat) and young stepchildren vanish during a camping trip. USA will repeat "Contagious" at 9:30 p.m. Saturday and noon Feb. 1. The TV-PG movie contains several violent scenes.
