A Night of Celebration Dedicated to World Peace Hosted by Carre Otis

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The evening will recognize honorees who have made extraordinary spiritual, humanitarian and artistic contributions to society. The Special "Jewel of Light" Award will be given in honor of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for his continued devotion to World Peace by encouraging cross-cultural awareness, through compassion, love and understanding. Other honorees include Julia Ormond, Ashley Judd and Seane Corn, for Conscious Humanitarian; Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Mae Chee Sansanee Sthirasuta and Kunzang Dechen Lingpa for Spiritual Leadership; Kitaro and Robert Sturman for Creative Visionary to name a few. The benefit committee includes Ally Sheedy, Deepak Chopra, Ed Harris, Linda Gray, Lindsay Wagner, Pamela Des Barres, John Savage and Wendie Mallick.

This inspired evening includes the Sacred music of The Monks & Nuns of Zangdokpalri, Pedro Ricardo Mino, Madeleine Peyroux, Kitaro, Hani Naser, Craig Eastman and Jesse Johnson.

The awards gala serves as a kick-off for our Sounds Of The Sacred, Songs Of The Earth All-Day Outdoor Festival & Sunset Concert (http://www.soundsofthesacred.org/ ) that we will once again share with the Los Angeles community on Sunday, September 18th. The festival and concert are a part of the World Festival Of Sacred Music, Los Angeles, initiated by His Holiness The Dalai Lama in 1999.

The "Sounds of the Sacred" Festival, Concert and Awards Gala are programs of the Living Wellness Foundation. Founded in 1997, the Foundation presents numerous, community-based programs throughout the year that promote World Peace through its Sacred World Arts, Healing and Cross Cultural Programs. The Topanga Canyon-based Foundation's programs and forums incorporate Sacred Music, Theater, Film, Art and Literature to achieve these goals. The Foundation also works with other non-profit educational organizations, such as (http://www.totalgoodness.org/ ), which supports outreach for the Monks & Nuns of Zangdokpalri to finish their monastery and hospital in Assam, India. A percentage of the proceeds will be given to: Zangdokpalri Foundation, Foundation of the World Arts, YouthAIDS, Full Circle Learning, FilmAid International and Project Life Stories.
