Muscle in on an evening with the Bionic Woman

9 May 2009

FANS of Bionic Woman Lindsay Wagner can get up close on the action when the cult TV star hosts 'An Evening With...' at a Sheffield hotel.
The actress turned emotional healer returns to South Yorkshire later this month for the extra-special evening – the first event of its kind she has organised either in Britain or the United States.

Emmy award winner Lindsay will talk about her role playing Jaime Sommers in the '70s TV series – drawing on anecdotes and behind-the-scenes experiences as she performed action packed scenes such as fighting off Bigfoot and escaping from swamps of quicksand.

The Bionic Woman and The Six Million Dollar Man – bionic man Steve Austin played by actor Lee Majors – were both smash-hit TV series of the 1970s.

As well as talking about her acting career, Lindsay will also discuss the transition from actress to her life now running inner healing workshops and retreats, where she draws on her personal experiences and her studies of both Eastern and Western techniques to help people realise their full potential.

Lindsay, who will be appearing at the Royal Victoria Holiday Inn, said she was inspired to organise the event following a suggestion from mum Karen Stowe, from Cleveland, who is working with the star in England after taking part in one of her courses in America.

She added: "The 'Evening With...' format is not something people are familiar with in the US, but when Karen said it was something that people over here liked, I thought I'd give it a try.

"It's something that we can fit in between the workshops that we're doing while I'm over here, and it's meant to be something which is a bit more fun, more entertaining and not quite so demanding.

"I think I will be focusing more than normal on the questions and answers section – I would rather know what guests want to know and then go from there.

"Of course people always want to find out what it was like filming the Bionic Woman, it's fun and exciting, especially for people who grew up with it. I hope that for them to hear my stories about what was going on behind what they were watching will be enjoyable, and I'm sure I'll also be covering how this evolved into the career that I am now part of."

The event in Sheffield on Tuesday May 19 follows on from the 'Quiet the Mind, Open the Heart' healing workshop which she held at Tankersley Manor last November. It also coincides with the release this month of a meditation CD called Open To Oneness, designed to help both new-comers and people who have been on the course meditate at home.
