Oscar Gala Brings Sparkle To Port Angeles

22 Feb 2009

The gala, centered around the live broadcast of the Academy Awards, began at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22.

Lindsay Wagner, an actress best known for her role in the 1970s TV series "The Bionic Woman," presided over the Port Angeles celebration in the Masonic Temple at Seventh and Lincoln streets. Those attending the Port Angeles event, which benefitted the Olympic Medical Center Foundation, walked into the building on a Hollywood-style red carpet.

The gala offered a buffet dinner and a live telecast of the Oscars beginning at 5 p.m. on large, 12-foot screens.

It also featured a "Guess the Winners" contest, with entrants who pick the most winners in selected Oscar categories winning prizes, and a "Dress as Your Favorite Movie Star or Character" contest, with prizes for the winners.

Tickets were $60 and were available at Necessities and Temptations gift shop at the corner of Laurel and Railroad Avenue in downtown Port Angeles.

First Federal was the presenting sponsor.

Wagner, 59, lives in the Los Angeles area but owns a vacation home in Sequim. She has starred in 40 made-for-TV movies, five TV mini-series, 10 feature films, three TV series and several specials and documentaries.
